Scenarios to Try

The best way to determine of you are prepared for an emergency is to pretend that there is one!

Scenario 1:
No Electricity with Running Water

During this scenario, you will see how prepared you are to live comfortably for 24 hours without electricity,

but with running water. In many cases, if the power goes out, you will still have running water.

Choose a day that you can be home for 24 hours
Use painter's tape, or something similar, to tape all light switches to the OFF position
Tape the oven, microwave, washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, and other appliances closed
- In an actual power outage, you will have 4 hours to use or move refrigerated food into coolers with ice, and a full freezer will keep food safe for 48 hours, if you do not open it.
Put outlet covers in all electrical outlets
Hide all TV remote controls
Turn off the wifi and other electronics that plug-in
Turn off the heater or air conditioner
Get a notebook and takes notes on things you learn and supplies you need for a real emergency
